AI visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews

I open your website to the ChatGPT and Perplexity search crawlers and rework your most important pages so they answer customer questions directly. I measure what changes with a fixed set of test questions.

By video call. Afterwards, you’ll know whether AI visibility is worth it for you.

Companies I’ve worked for

The starting point

Your customers read an answer, not a list of search results

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews summarize what they find on the web and link to some of their sources. What they end up saying about your company depends partly on what these systems are allowed to read on your website and what they find there. If the answer names only your competitors, no web analytics tool will tell you.

  • 01Together, we choose the customer questions AI should name you for.
  • 02For each of these questions, your website has a page with a direct answer.
  • 03You see for yourself how ChatGPT and Perplexity answer your test questions.

Implementation

How I work on your AI visibility

01

Let AI crawlers in

I check whether your robots.txt or a Cloudflare bot rule is blocking the ChatGPT and Perplexity crawlers.

02

The same details everywhere

I make sure your name, location and services match across your website, your Google Business Profile and LinkedIn.

03

Structured data

I add Schema.org data to your source code. In machine-readable form, it states who you are, where you’re based and what you offer.

04

Measure visits from AI answers

In web analytics, visits from ChatGPT and Perplexity show up with chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai as their source. I group them into a channel of their own.

How it works

From the first test question to the final analysis

  1. 01

    Test questions and baseline

We pick questions phrased the way your customers would ask an AI. I record today’s answers.

  2. 02

    Access and details

Are AI crawlers allowed to read your pages? Do your company details match everywhere? I sort out both before reworking any pages.

  3. 03

    Rework pages

I rework the pages for your test questions: the direct answer at the top, details and evidence below.

  4. 04

    Measure over time

Over several weeks, I ask the same questions again and compare the answers with those from the start.

FAQ

Questions about AI visibility

For ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. ChatGPT and Perplexity read websites with their own search crawlers, called OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot. For Google AI Overviews, the regular Google index is what counts: your page has to be indexed and allowed to show a snippet. If you don’t want OpenAI to use your content for training, block only the GPTBot crawler. According to OpenAI, this setting is independent of OAI-SearchBot.

That can’t be predicted, and nobody can guarantee a mention. Only the technical part is quick: OpenAI and Perplexity say they pick up changes to robots.txt within about 24 hours (sources: OpenAI, Perplexity). With new content, it depends on when the systems read your pages again and what other sources they find on the topic. That’s why I only assess results after a few weeks.

It is for Google AI Overviews, but not quite for ChatGPT and Perplexity. Google lists no additional requirements for its AI features. ChatGPT and Perplexity, however, send their own crawlers, and a rule in your robots.txt or in Cloudflare can turn them away while Google keeps reading your pages. Structure matters too: I put the answer to a customer question at the top of the page so it can be quoted without the rest.

Yes. The crawlers read the final source code of your pages, whether it comes from Webflow, WordPress or another system. You don’t need a relaunch: I work with your existing pages. I edit Webflow projects myself. On other systems, I either make the changes with your login or deliver them to your team ready to implement.

It mainly depends on how many pages I rework, which system your website runs on and how long I keep measuring. That’s why there’s no fixed price. In the free 30-minute check, I look at where you stand today. If you ask for one, I’ll send you a written quote afterwards with scope, measurement period and price.
